The Philippine police successfully rescued two victims kidnapped in Dagupan City and arrested a suspect involved in the case. Preliminary investigations by the police revealed that the incident stemmed from a premeditated kidnapping under the guise of a land purchase.
Recently, William Chua and his assistant attended a meeting arranged by a man claiming to be "George Uy" in the Tapuac community of Dagupan City along the De Venecia Highway at the Solid North Terminal to discuss land transactions.
Both victims are residents of Pangasinan Province, and the meeting was likely a well-planned trap by the kidnappers.
On the day of the incident, around 2:45 PM, William Chua managed to call his wife, Mary Grace Almendarez Chua, informing her that he and his assistant Bautista had been kidnapped. Since then, they lost contact.
William Chua's wife immediately sought help from trusted friends, including retired General Harris Fama and Dagupan City councilor Leo Cuaton of the Bonuan Gueset community.
With their assistance, the Anti-Kidnapping Group Luzon Field Unit quickly intervened in the investigation, led by Police Colonel Jeff E. Fanged, who initiated a search and rescue operation.
During the investigation, the victims' vehicle was found abandoned on a highway in Rosario, La Union, prompting the police to issue a bulletin for assistance.
With coordinated efforts from the police of Pangasinan Province and Baguio City, the victims were successfully rescued by the Bocaue police, and the suspect was arrested. A .45 caliber pistol was recovered from the suspect.
The Anti-Kidnapping Group is currently conducting a thorough investigation to uncover other possible accomplices and masterminds behind the scenes. The suspect has been transferred to the Anti-Kidnapping Group for further interrogation, and details of the case are still being processed.
The police stated that they would continue to strengthen prevention and combat measures against similar cases to ensure the safety of the public and business community.
