President Donald Trump visited the Circa Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, marking his first casino appearance during his second term.
The event was hosted by Circa CEO Derek Stevens and primarily discussed the objectives of gambling tax policy, advocating for the reform of slot machine tax thresholds and the abolition of the sports betting excise tax.
Bill Miller, President and CEO of the American Tax Law Association, stated: "Today's event underscores the President's commitment to ensuring that tax laws not only encourage job creation but also ensure that workers keep more of their hard-earned money."
In recent years, the gambling industry has seen record growth, with the American Gaming Association predicting that the total revenue from commercial gambling will exceed $67 billion in 2024, setting a record for the fourth consecutive year. In just the third quarter, the industry generated $17.71 billion in revenue, thanks in part to the expansion of online gambling, which accounted for 29% of the total revenue.
It is worth noting that the event also highlighted the President's previous support for the industry, including the federal economic relief measures taken during his first term, which helped casinos recover from the closures caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
In addition to tax reform, the gambling industry continues to prioritize responsible gambling initiatives and combating illegal gambling operators.
Last year, the American Gaming Association achieved a victory in Virginia against unlicensed gambling machines.
