Philippine broadband service provider Converge successfully blocked approximately 183 billion attempts to access illegal websites in 2024, an 18-fold increase compared to the total from 2021 to 2023. These interceptions involved about 683,000 URLs or domains that were blocked.

Based on reports and recommendations from government and private institutions, Converge has added 150,000 URLs and domains marked as illegal or non-compliant to their system. These involve child sexual abuse, phishing, banking fraud, online gambling, and voyeurism.

Officials from Converge noted that attacks on user networks are likely relying on artificial intelligence technology, as hackers and malicious actors no longer depend on manual operations for attacks.

In response, the company not only continues to strengthen its interception mechanisms but also plans to use AI technology to more accurately identify and block malicious websites, further enhancing cybersecurity.

As the largest home fiber network provider in the Philippines, Converge boasts the country's most extensive fiber infrastructure.

As of 2023, the company has deployed over 8.8 million ports and established nearly one million kilometers of fiber backbone network, providing high-speed and stable internet services to users nationwide.
