The Secretary-General of the Thailand Board of Investment (BOI), Narumet Therdsatirathak, recently revealed that under the chairmanship of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Phichai Chunhawan, the first committee meeting of 2025 approved three significant investment promotion projects, with a total investment exceeding 170 billion Thai Baht.

This includes two major digital infrastructure projects, particularly the data hosting project under TikTok Pte. Ltd.

TikTok plans to invest in constructing efficient data centers in areas such as Bangkok, Samut Prakan, and Chachoengsao to handle big data, with a total investment of 126.79 billion Thai Baht.

In addition, Siam AI Corporation Ltd., the first Thai company to become an NVIDIA Cloud Partner, will also invest in building AI cloud service facilities located in Chonburi and Pathum Thani provinces, with an investment of 3.25 billion Thai Baht.

Another approved project is by Asia Pacific Potash Corporation Ltd., which will invest in constructing a potassium chloride production project in Udon Thani province for fertilizer production, with a total investment of 40.4 billion Thai Baht.

Narumet Therdsatirathak also pointed out that in 2024, Thailand attracted a significant amount of investment in the digital industry, especially in digital infrastructure, from 16 projects originating from the USA, China, Hong Kong, Japan, India, Australia, and locally in Thailand, totaling over 240 billion Thai Baht, making it the most invested industry.

He expects that in 2025, more globally renowned companies will continue to invest in Thailand, and the implementation of these two projects marks an important step towards Thailand becoming a regional digital hub.

Furthermore, the BOI also approved the 2025 investment strategy plan aimed at promoting Thailand as a center for the bio-economy.

The plan includes: 1. Promoting sustainable aviation fuel production projects; 2. Upgrading industrial parks in the agriculture and food industries to bio-industrial parks. Additionally, the BOI approved a plan to promote investment aimed at making Thailand an investment hub in five key areas: BCG industry center, technology and innovation center, logistics and international business center, and creative industry center.
