Million-subscriber YouTuber Elisa recently settled in Thailand, obtaining a local work visa and purchasing property for long-term residence. She responded on social media to recent news about tourists in Thailand being scammed and becoming "piglets," emphasizing that traveling in Thailand is not inherently dangerous.
Elisa pointed out that whenever she hears people considering travel to Thailand dangerous due to the "piglet incident," she feels such concerns miss the core issue.
She stated: "The real danger is not traveling to Thailand, but some people being lured from Taiwan to Thailand for unclear high-paying jobs, or being invited to Thailand for free."
She further exemplified that as a YouTuber with a million subscribers, all her expenses in Thailand for food, drinks, and entertainment are self-funded, stressing: "How could someone possibly treat you to a trip to Thailand for no reason?" She also mentioned that while living in Thailand, she never felt endangered on the streets at any time, even accustomed to walking home alone at midnight, similar to the public safety environment in Taiwan.
She reminded the public, "The danger is not in traveling to Thailand, but in being selective with friends in Taiwan," and hoped everyone would be more vigilant to avoid becoming scam victims.
Lastly, she humorously added that the only possible "danger" of traveling to Thailand might be having your nails done in a "Thai style" at a nail salon, posting a comparison photo to poke fun at herself, joking that "the colors are too Southeast Asian, and the nail shapes are quite ugly."
