According to figures from Coljuegos, their transfers increased by 7 percent compared to 2023.
Colombia.- During 2024, territorial games in the country showed a 7 percent annual increase in transfers to local and departmental health funds. Thus, as reported by Coljuegos, COP613.201m (USD145.8m) were transferred to the mayoralties and governorships to strengthen the subsidized regime.
Marco Emilio Hincapié, president of the Colombian gaming regulatory body, indicated: "The chance, lotteries, and Scratch&Ready continue to show positive behaviors in their sales and health transfers. We estimate that with these resources, medical services could be provided to 488,187 Colombians from the subsidized regime."
In this regard, during 2024 the game of chance transferred, for all concepts, a total of COP320.381m (USD76.2m), which represents an increase of 4 percent compared to 2023. Meanwhile, the 15 lotteries operating in the country contributed COP254.709m (USD60.5m) to the local and departmental health funds.
Similarly, the president of Coljuegos indicated that, during 2024, in addition to the aforementioned contributions to health, territorial games paid out in prizes to bettors around COP1.7 trillion (USD404m).

Hincapié stated: "Chance bettors received around COP1.13 trillion (USD262m) in prizes, a significant figure that reveals both the good behavior of the game and the return to the players. In addition, the lotteries delivered COP312.152m (USD74.2m) in prizes, while Scratch&Ready reached COP169.473m (USD40.3m) paid."
And he added: "This shows that it is indeed worth playing legally. Therefore, we invite Colombians to continue buying chance, lottery, and Scratch&Ready only at authorized sites this year. In this way, they can win millionaire prizes and contribute to the health of those most in need."
