The new Decree-Law 1/2025 was published in the Official Gazette.
Spain.- The new Decree-Law 1/2025, approved by the Board of Extremadura and published in the Official Gazette, ratifies and adjusts the tax rate of 15 percent on gross revenues from gambling in casinos. The new tax was published within the framework of the urgent fiscal measures decree-law, aimed at adjusting tax policy in multiple sectors.
With the publication of the decree-law, the measure aims to unify the rates for casinos, adjusting to the previously established regulations that had become outdated after the repeal of old decrees. The rate will affect all casinos in the Community.
Law 7/2018, of August 2, had modified article 49 of the Consolidated Text of the legal provisions of the Autonomous Community of Extremadura in matters of taxes transferred by the State, setting the casino tax at 15 percent. However, Legislative Decree 1/2013, which contained that article, was repealed by a new version of the Consolidated Text approved in 2018. As a result, the modification was left without a valid regulatory framework to apply to. After including the tax in the community's budgets for 2025, the 15 percent rate is included in the new Decree-Law.
