Many tourists at the Thai-Myanmar border checkpoint have unclear travel plans, suspected to be related to scam gray industries!

According to official statistics, between January 15 and 30, 2025, a total of 409 tourists passed through the Mae Sot border crossing in Tak Province, Thailand, to Myanmar. Among them, 105 tourists could not provide a clear itinerary, suspected of being deceived into engaging in illegal activities such as telecommunications fraud in Myanmar.

It is reported that among the tourists who could not provide a clear itinerary, 37 have already processed their accommodations within Myanmar; 22 tourists were successfully persuaded to return, including 12 from India, 7 from China, 2 from Vietnam, and 2 from Nigeria; the remaining 46 tourists are still under investigation.
