Recently, the Thai police launched an operation against a transnational scamming syndicate, successfully seizing a batch of electronic devices suspected to be linked to a phone scam group in the Myawaddy area of Myanmar.

In a logistics center located in the Bang Phu area of Samut Prakan Province, Thailand, the police confiscated a large amount of computer equipment and communication tools, including 15 computer hosts, 6 keyboards, 8 mice, 2 UPS power supplies, 1 network hub, 5 network cables, 24 TP-Link brand internet receivers, 5 Redmi mobile phones, 49 mobile phone charging cables, and 55 foreign SIM cards.

This operation stemmed from a joint investigation by the Thai police and local law enforcement agencies. On February 1, the police had already seized 1251 mobile phones, 274 foreign SIM cards, and 19 computer devices in the Marmada area of Tak Province.

Further investigations revealed that these devices were related to a transnational scamming group, particularly involved in phone scam activities in the Myawaddy area of Myanmar. According to the police, the aim of these devices was to relocate the scamming group's base of operations from Myanmar to Cambodia, near the Thai border area of Sa Kaeo.

The police tracked the transportation route of these devices, discovering that a batch of goods was initially sent out by a logistics company in Marmada, Tak Province, then transferred to the northern border area of Thailand, and finally arrived at the sorting center in Samut Prakan Province. Further investigations were conducted, and the police eventually seized these devices suspected of being used for scamming.

The police stated that the seized devices would be further investigated to determine their specific involvement in the scamming activities. Relevant departments are taking measures to ensure that these criminal activities are effectively stopped and that the suspects involved are dealt with according to the law. This action also demonstrates the Thai government's determination in combating transnational crime, especially in the field of cyber scams.
