Maine’s first in-person sportsbook is suspending all sports betting because the state denied the bar’s gambling application, causing a temporary license to expire. Management at Oddfellahs Sportsbook & Bar in Portland say they’re going to lose out on major business during one of the biggest weeks of the year.

Oddfellahs opened up with a temporary license in September while the Maine Gambling Control Unit reviewed their application for a “facility sports wagering license.”

“Five months into it, I think we’ve been very successful from day one, and now we’re in the hands of the state,” said general manager David Moran.

The GCU denied their application in January, which means the temporary license is now expired and they have to stop taking bets.
