Recently, the Minister of Justice of Thailand, Tawee, discussed the inspection trip to the border area of Tak Province by Liu Zhongyi, the Assistant Minister of the Ministry of Public Security of China. He stated that the Chinese side has officially sent a letter to the Thai Ministry of Justice through the Chinese Embassy in Thailand, expressing the intention to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in combating telecommunications fraud and cybercrime.
This visit by Liu Zhongyi was not just a courtesy call, but more importantly, it was aimed at deepening cooperation in this field and further promoting interaction between the two sides in combating cross-border crime.
According to Tawee, one of the key focuses of Liu Zhongyi's inspection was to engage in in-depth discussions with various Thai departments on how to jointly address the increasingly rampant telecommunications fraud and cybercrime.
In addition to talks with the judicial departments, Liu Zhongyi also plans to meet with the Thai Anti-Money Laundering Office, the National Police Agency, the Narcotics Control Board, and the Ministry of Defense, among other relevant institutions. By strengthening cooperation with these institutions, both sides hope to make substantial progress in information sharing, technical exchange, and joint crime fighting.
In recent years, telecommunications fraud and cybercrime have gradually become hot issues in transnational crime, especially between China and Thailand, where fraud gangs often engage in illegal activities through the internet or telephone, causing serious economic losses to citizens of both countries.
The Thai government has been strengthening international cooperation in this field, particularly with China, which has become an important strategy to address this issue. Through close cooperation with Chinese public security authorities, Thailand hopes to leverage the resources and strength of both sides to jointly combat these cross-border criminal activities and protect the interests of citizens and businesses.
This visit is seen as a positive step in strengthening judicial cooperation between the two sides, demonstrating their common determination to combat cross-border crime.
Tawee stated that the Thai Ministry of Justice will fully support cooperation with China in combating telecommunications fraud and cybercrime, ensuring that the collaboration achieves tangible results.
