During a follow-up search of the residence of Deng Yuanqing, a Chinese citizen suspected of espionage activities, the National Investigation Bureau once again found a large amount of equipment and tools in his apartment.
This search took place at Deng Yuanqing's residence in Magaji City. Law enforcement officials reported the discovery of various electronic devices including laptops, desktop computers, external hard drives, routers, and modems, which may be used for remote data access and extraction.
Marlon Marcelo, head of the special case team of the National Investigation Bureau, pointed out: "These devices are clearly capable of connecting to the Internet and can be used for remote operations, and they are likely related to the acquisition and transmission of information."
In addition, the search also uncovered Deng Yuanqing's ID card, passport, and several deposit slips, with some transactions amounting to millions of pesos. Marcelo stated: "Although the transaction amounts are large, we need to further investigate to confirm whether these transactions are related to his personal actions or connected to previous espionage activities."
All seized devices will undergo further identification, and experts will verify their actual use and check if they involve intelligence gathering activities.
Deng Yuanqing and two other Filipino citizens were arrested on January 17, 2025, in a car carrying suspected spy high-tech equipment. It is alleged that they were monitoring multiple national military facilities and defense cooperation sites.
