According to social media released by Thai Prime Minister Paetongtan, she and the Thai delegation met with Chinese leader Xi Jinping at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on the morning of the 6th.

On February 4, a spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that at the invitation of Premier Li Qiang of the State Council, Thai Prime Minister Paetongtan will pay an official visit to China from February 5 to February 8.

According to media photos, those present at the scene included Chinese Deputy Foreign Minister Hua Chunying and Chinese Ambassador to Thailand Han Zhiqiang, among other Chinese officials.

In an interview, Thai Prime Minister Paetongtan Chinawat stated that the official visit to China would focus on discussions about cooperation on cybercrime issues.

He pointed out that cybercrime is a global issue, not limited to China, and solving this problem relies on cooperation and advanced technological means between both sides. Paetongtan emphasized that China has recognized this issue, and there will be no obstacles in cooperation.

When mentioning the informal visit of the Chinese Deputy Secretary of State, Paetongtan stated that it was a personal itinerary, and the Thai government did not officially receive the visitor, thus no misunderstandings or problems arose.

Thai Prime Minister's Office spokesperson Mr. Jirayu revealed that in this cabinet meeting, Paetongtan clearly issued instructions regarding the official visit to China, stating that the visit would further promote and follow up on a series of important cooperative topics.

This visit will promote and follow up on several important cooperative matters, including:

1. Economic, trade, and investment aspects

It calls for accelerating the promotion of long-term investment partnerships, especially in future areas crucial for green transformation and digitalization, such as electric vehicles (EV), semiconductors, data centers, etc.

At the same time, it demands high attention from the cabinet to regulatory measures, quality standards, and product safety, especially the safety of agricultural and food products.

It also calls for advancing the "land bridge" project and welcomes investments from Chinese investors if they are interested.

The cabinet has approved the second phase of the Thai-Chinese high-speed rail project, connecting the railway line from Korat Province to Nong Khai Province, and demands close attention to the progress of the project.

2. Security and combating transnational crime

It requires relevant ministers to manage tourist safety issues and enhance various measures to ensure that transnational criminal groups do not use Thailand as a transit point, especially to prevent the activities of telephone scam groups.

3. Matters concerning the relationship between the two countries' peoples, the following measures are required:

It calls for accelerating the development of human resources to prepare for the future; supporting cultural exchanges and the enhancement of soft power; and preparing to welcome two giant pandas gifted by China this year as friendly ambassadors.

In addition, Paetongtan emphasized that the Director of the Central Fiscal Bureau will assist in accelerating the disbursement progress to ensure that related projects are implemented as planned. At the same time, he requested Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Phichai Chunhajira to closely follow up on the progress of various departments to ensure the achievement of economic growth targets, which is seen as a key factor in driving the national economic recovery.
