Labor Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma announced that the Department of Labor (DOLE) will hold another job fair for workers holding Internet Gambling Licenses (IGL) affected by the Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGO) ban.
Laguesma noted that nearly 200 IGL workers attended the previous job fair, with several securing employment.
In an interview, Laguesma stated, "Although some have been hired, there will be subsequent job opportunities. We are planning another recruitment event focused on them."
He added that the Department of Labor will also provide employment opportunities for other job seekers. However, he did not specify the exact date of the upcoming event.
In July last year, President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos ordered a ban on all POGOs following allegations of human trafficking, illegal detention, and financial fraud among several operators.
In November 2024, Marcos issued Executive Order No. 74, expanding the ban to include illegal offshore gambling operations, license applications, renewals, and cessation of operations.
A multi-agency task force (including the Bureau of Immigration, Department of Justice, Department of Labor, and other agencies) was established to oversee the shutdown of POGOs and assist displaced workers.
