The team of Alice Guo, the dismissed mayor of Banban City in Tarlac Province, stated that a witness from the prosecution team in the human trafficking case has testified at the Pasig District Court. However, this is just one of the more than ten witnesses identified by the prosecution in the human trafficking case.
One of Guo's lawyers, Lorelei Santos, said: "The testimony of a prosecution witness has been completed, and if there are more than ten witnesses, another witness will appear in court tomorrow."
Santos stated that the appearance of prosecution witnesses marks significant progress in the case. "Presenting evidence is an important part of trying major cases," Santos said.
Santos mentioned that her client, Ms. Guo, attended the hearing via video conference.
Ms. Alice Guo pleads "not guilty" to qualified human trafficking
The case against Ms. Guo originated from complaints filed by the Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) and the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC).
She is accused of being involved with a leasing company that has business dealings with Zun Yuan Technology Inc., a Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) center, which was raided in March.
Qualified human trafficking is a non-bailable offense.
