According to the "Irish Legal News", Rebecca Coen has been appointed as the Director of Enforcement and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) at the newly established Gambling Regulatory Authority of Ireland (GRAI).

Coen is a qualified lawyer with extensive experience in criminal enforcement and regulatory oversight.

Prior to joining GRAI, she served as the Director of Criminal Enforcement at the Corporate Enforcement Authority (CEA) in Ireland.

Before that, she was the Director of Research at the Law Reform Commission, contributing to the formulation of legal policies.

Coen's legal career also includes serving as a Senior Prosecutor in the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for over a decade. During this time, she led prosecutions involving complex criminal cases, including sexual offenses, homicide, organized crime, and terrorism.

She also held a leadership position in the Prosecution Policy Unit of the DPP's office.

Speaking about her appointment at GRAI, Coen said, "In my new position, I look forward to integrating the Gambling Regulatory Authority of Ireland into the Irish law enforcement landscape and continuing to work with colleagues in criminal and regulatory enforcement to promote a cohesive and collaborative approach to combating economic crime."

It is worth noting that in addition to her professional experience, Coen is also an author who has published books on Irish criminal law, including works on police powers and criminal proceedings in Ireland.

Following the enactment of the Gambling Regulation Act in 2024, GRAI is currently being established.

Once fully operational, it will oversee licensing, compliance, and consumer protection measures in the Irish gambling industry.

Coen's responsibilities include enforcing regulatory standards, investigating breaches, and strengthening the anti-money laundering framework.
