The General Directorate of Taxes and Gaming has announced that, starting from May 1st, gaming halls, bingos, and casinos must verify in real time the database of the registry of unauthorized persons.
Spain.- The General Directorate of Taxes and Gaming of Catalonia has communicated that starting from May 1st a new online query system for access control to gaming establishments will be implemented. From that date, gaming halls, bingos, and casinos will have to verify in real time the database of the registry of unauthorized persons.
The new procedure will replace the daily sending of files with the data of people with restricted access, establishing an online query system. The General Directorate of Taxes and Gaming indicated that operators must adapt their computer systems to ensure connection with the web query service. The process will require prior authorization from the regulatory body.
«From this date, the daily submission of the files with the data from the Registry will no longer be made, and therefore, gaming establishments will have to mandatorily perform the synchronous online query to control access», said the General Directorate.
They also informed about the need to implement the technical changes with enough lead time to comply with the regulations within the established deadlines. «Which we bring to your attention so that, if appropriate, you may sufficiently in advance make the necessary adaptations in the computer systems of access control to your establishments so that they have mechanisms of connection or interoperability with the web query service. The connection or interoperability with this web service will need prior authorization from this General Directorate.»

In January, during the annual assembly of the Catalan Guild of Leisure Halls and New Gaming Technologies (GRECOJOC), the association that groups gaming halls in Catalonia, Xavier Salvadó Rovira, sub-inspector and head of the Central Unit of Gaming and Shows of the Mossos d’Esquadra, presented the results of the inspections carried out in 2024.
Salvadó Rovira reported that during the inspections of the year, no minors were detected in the gaming halls. This data is of great relevance, as it highlights the sector's commitment to integrity and compliance with current regulations.
