Nevada sportsbooks win record $22.1 million from Super Bowl

Nevada’s 186 sportsbooks recorded an all-time record win for Super Bowl bets, even though handle was down from previous years.

The Nevada Gaming Control Board released figures Tuesday afternoon that showed sportsbooks won $22.1 million on wagers totaling $151.6 million, a 14.6% hold.

Last year when the Super Bowl took place in Las Vegas, with Kansas City defeating San Francisco, Nevada’s sportsbooks won $11.1 million on a 5.9% hold with a record handle of $190 million.

The previous high win total was $18.7 million on a 12.1% hold in 2020 when Kansas City defeated San Francisco. In 2016 when Denver defeated Carolina, sportsbooks won $13.3 million on a 10.1% hold. Sportsbooks won $12.5 million on a 9.1% hold in 2021 when Kansas City lost to Tampa Bay.

The handle was $153.1 million in 2023 when Kansas City beat Philadelphia in Arizona. It was $179.8 million in 2022 when Los Angeles beat Cincinnati; $136 million in 2021 when Tampa Bay beat Kansas City; $154 million in 2020 when Kansas City beat San Francisco; $145.9 million in 2019 when New England beat Los Angeles; $158.5 million in 2018 when Philadelphia beat New England; $138.4 million in 2017 when New England beat Atlanta; and $132.5 million in 2016 when Denver beat Carolina.
