Entrepreneurs, gamblers, industry professionals, and the general public can contribute to the advancement of online gambling regulation in Brazil.
Brazil.- The Secretariat of Prizes and Betting (SPA) of the Ministry of Finance will hold a public consultation to discuss the development of the regulatory agenda for the biennium 2025/2026. The online gaming sector began operating in a regulated manner on January 1st of this year, and the SPA invited the public to suggest improvements to the legislation of this market through the Participa + Brasil Platform, on the federal government's website.
Those interested in participating can send suggestions for approximately 45 days, with a deadline set for March 27. Entrepreneurs from the sector, gamblers, professionals in the field, and the general public are allowed to give their opinion on the progress of the regulation of sports betting and online casino games in Brazil.
In addition to receiving suggestions, the SPA plans to conduct a virtual hearing on February 21, from 14:00 to 16:00 hours.
The head of the SPA, Secretary Regis Dudena, explained the reason for promoting the public consultation. "We created a framework of main rules, quite complete and essential for the start of the regulated market of fixed-odds betting, but regulation is a cycle; there are always points that need to be reviewed and improved. We are observing daily the practical effects of the rules we created to understand what needs to be perfected," he said.
"Given that the betting market is technological, it is very dynamic, and regulation must always be attentive to the new needs that arise. We want to invite society to express itself on the regulatory agenda," added Dudena.
