Recently, the Thai police launched a major operation against a case involving the rape of children and the production and sale of obscene videos, successfully cracking multiple criminal networks in the northeastern region.
Under the direction of Police General Jitirat Pandoype, the Cyber Crime Investigation Division (referred to as "Cyber Crime Division") conducted an in-depth investigation into this case and successfully combated multiple online gambling, child sexual abuse, and illegal lottery-related criminal networks. Particularly in Khon Kaen, Maha Sarakham, Yasothon, Roi Et, and Nakhon Ratchasima, the police carried out several raids.
The police conducted searches in places like Khon Kaen Province and successfully dismantled an online gambling and child sexual abuse crime group. During the operation, the police discovered a secret WeChat group that, while promoting membership, posted several obscene videos involving underage boys.
The police eventually arrested a 31-year-old man and seized related obscene video evidence. This man was charged with committing rape and was also charged with "trafficking in child pornography" for distributing child pornography content.
Furthermore, the police also successfully dismantled a cross-border gambling network involved in illegal transactions of "Laos lottery" and "Vietnam lottery," arresting four suspects including the recipients and ATM cardholders. The police also seized electronic devices, bank cards, and cash related to the crimes at multiple locations.
The police stated that they will continue to deepen the crackdown on cross-border crimes, especially online gambling and money laundering activities, to ensure public safety.
