The Danish Gambling Authority, Spillemyndigheden, has announced its full-year gambling revenue data for 2024.
Last year, the total gambling gross revenue (GGR) from the four major markets reached 7.27 billion Danish kroner ($1.02 billion), an increase of 6.9% compared to the previous year.
Online casino gambling revenue accounted for nearly half of this total, amounting to 3.53 billion Danish kroner. This is also 14.7% higher than the online casino gambling revenue in 2023. December was the highest revenue month for the industry, with slot machines accounting for 78.2% of the revenue, representing the main game type in online casino gambling revenue.
Gambling GGR also grew, albeit by only 1.2% to 2.21 billion Danish kroner, with mobile sales channels accounting for the largest proportion of bets at 66.3%.
It is worth noting that Denmark introduced new licensing requirements for gaming providers at the beginning of this year, with a new certification program that must be complied with starting from July 2025.
Among the four vertical industries, the only one that did not experience overall growth in 2024 was slot machines, whose GGR slightly decreased by 1.2% to 1.16 billion Danish kroner, with a daily average GGR of 3.18 million Danish kroner.
In 2024, the total gambling revenue from physical casinos accounted for the smallest proportion of Denmark's total gambling revenue, at 368 million Danish kroner. Compared to 2023, this figure grew by 1.7%.
