The list of online betting licensees in Brazil has grown to 35 after the country’s regulator, the Secretariat of Prizes and Bets (SPA), granted 21 additional licenses.
There are now 173 brands with regulatory permission to operate in the newly-regulated country.
The list of companies published in the Official Gazette of the Union and their respective brands are as follows:
Upon the official launch of the regulated Brazilian market, only fourteen companies received full licenses from the SPA. A further 52 were provided provisional licenses, meaning they could operate normally in Brazil for an initial thirty-day window.
Another thirty days were granted should companies require additional time to meet Brazilian regulatory requirements, but had support from the regulator. Of the 21 companies mentioned above that received full operational licenses, 20 previously held provisional authorization.
The list of new fully licensed brands for Brazilian consumers includes some world-renowned heavy-hitters such as Bet365, Betano, Betfair, Stake, and Sportingbet.
Although Brazil’s regulated online betting market launched less than two months ago, the country’s regulator continues to be busy.
Prior to announcing the latest wave of licensees, the SPA announced its regulatory agenda for the rest of 2025 and 2026 and opened a public consultation.
The public consultation invites all industry stakeholders and Brazilian citizens to provide feedback on the launch of regulated betting. Regis Deduna of the SPA emphasized that “regulation is a cycle” and “there are always points to be reviewed and improved.” He said at a press conference: “We are observing daily the practical effects of the standards we create in order to understand what needs to be improved.”
The consultation will last 45 days and close on 27 March 2025. The SPA will hold an online public hearing regarding regulation on 21 February.
Additionally, the SPA’s regulatory agenda, outlining key areas for the next two years, has been published. Topics include supplier regulation, responsible gambling and self-exclusion, treatment of disordered gambling, and the country’s policy around advertising and promotions.
