The Philippine Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC) recently reiterated its commitment to completely eradicate all illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs) by the end of 2025, ensuring that the industry no longer exists within the country.
PAOCC Executive Director and Deputy Minister Gilbert Cruz stated at a news forum in Quezon City that since President Marcos officially implemented a total ban in January this year, major POGOs in the Philippines have been essentially dismantled, with only a few small operators still secretly active.
"Our goal is to completely eliminate illegal POGOs by the end of this year, or at least minimize their impact," Cruz emphasized. The government's ultimate goal is to achieve "zero POGO" and completely eliminate this illegal industry.
He noted that as the government intensifies its crackdown, these illegal operators are no longer concentrated in large office spaces but have dispersed into residential areas, apartments, and even rooms in hotels and resorts to evade law enforcement.
"Despite ongoing government pressure, the high profits from POGO still drive some operators to take risks," Cruz said. The relevant departments will continue to intensify law enforcement to ensure that these illegal activities are completely eradicated by the end of the year, bringing a safer environment to Philippine society.
