Atlantic County Executive Dennis Levinson is pushing back on a state senator’s support for continuing a casino payment-in-lieu-of-taxes program indefinitely.
“Why you have chosen to pursue a PILOT in perpetuity is baffling,” Levinson wrote to state Sen. Vince Polistina in a Tuesday letter. “I strongly urge you to consider the Atlantic County taxpayers’ interest as much as the casino industry in any discussions about a new PILOT.”
It is the latest conflict in a yearlong feud with Levinson on one side and Polistina and Atlantic County GOP Chair Don Purdy on the other. It has resulted in uncertainty about whether Levinson can even speak at this year’s Atlantic County Republican Convention Feb. 22.
