Assistant Minister of the Ministry of Public Security of China, Liu Zhongyi, visited the command center of the Border Guard Force (BGF) in Myawaddy, Kayin, Myanmar. This visit was hosted by representatives of the Myanmar government and senior military officials including Aung Kyaw Kyaw.
During the visit, Liu Zhongyi consoled the foreigners at a gathering point established by the BGF for evacuees from the KK area. Currently, the site shelters about 900 foreign nationals, including people from China, Malaysia, Pakistan, India, Kenya, and Rwanda.
Myanmar government officials have screened and registered these foreign nationals, preparing them for repatriation. Saka, a foreign national from India, expressed his happiness about being able to return home.
He recalled being deceived into working in the area for nearly two months, during which he was forced into hard labor and endured significant physical and mental stress. Fortunately, he eventually received help and managed to escape.
Liu Zhongyi's journey started from Mae Sot District in Tak, Thailand, passing through the Thai-Myanmar Friendship Bridge No. 1 to reach Myawaddy, with the entire process being secured by the Myanmar military and BGF.
The Thai side, represented by the acting director of Tak Immigration Office, Praline, and the secretary-general of the Ministry of Defense of Thailand, Terisa, coordinated and focused on assisting the repatriation of foreign nationals through Thailand.
