Thai media reports that the leader of the Myanmar Border Guard Force (BGF), Suchit Tu, revealed for the first time at the headquarters in Myawaddy that since reports of telecommunications fraud and human trafficking emerged in the area, the BGF has been conducting raids since the 14th of this month, involving not only Chinese but also Indians, Africans, etc. After arrests are made, the Myanmar police will record the information.
Suchit Tu stated that the BGF is currently responsible for sweeping the KK Park, Myawaddy, and Water Ditch Valley areas, and all are sent to Myawaddy to be handled by the Myanmar police department, as the central government in Naypyidaw has dispatched police to record the cases, so the Myanmar police will take over.
From the tripartite meeting, it appears that countries will come to take their people back, but he is unclear how they will be returned.
Suchit Tu further stated that, as far as he knows, in addition to China, there are also Japan, Vietnam, and Thailand involved. As for the Chinese, he knows that China will send planes to personally pick them up at Mae Sot Airport, while other countries will coordinate through their embassies.
He said that the BGF is determined to complete the sweep within this month, but during the operation, it was found that more than 2,000 people had gathered, with the first batch sent back on the 20th being all Chinese, with no mention of the Philippines or Indonesia.
Therefore, he mentioned that the large gathering of people poses many problems in regional management, thus calling on the Thai government, serving as a transit station for returning personnel, to coordinate with the embassies of various countries to expedite the return of their nationals.
