So far, Brazil has issued up to 43 complete gambling licenses. Prior to this, another 8 companies were granted full authorization to operate in the market.
This is the third batch of complete gambling licenses authorized by the Secretariat of Awards and Betting (SPA), marking nearly two months since the legal online gambling market was launched on January 1.
At that time, 14 operators were granted full authorization to operate in the market, and last week, a second round of 21 operators were issued full licenses.
A decree published in the Official Journal of the European Union outlines the latest round of authorizations, which granted 18 brands, bringing the total number of fully authorized brands to 191.
EstrelaBet is one of the newly fully authorized operators
Today, one of the well-known companies that received a complete gambling license is EstrelaBet, and one of the first 10 companies to apply for authorization, F12, also received the final license.
In the newly approved comprehensive market, seven out of eight companies had received temporary licenses before the official market launch in December. This allowed them to operate normally while resolving certification issues during their application process.
The exception is Hiper Bet, which previously did indeed have a temporary license. Its five-year full gambling license will expire on February 18, 2030, while the other full licenses issued today will expire on December 31, 2029.
The list of newly authorized licensees is as follows:
Furthermore, according to a court order, seven companies were granted temporary operating licenses.
The most recent one is Atlantis Comercio Eletrônico e Software House Ltda and its MetBet, EsportivaBet, and MetGol 100% brands.
Companies applying for licenses before the deadline of August 20, 2024, will be ensured processing before market launch.
However, aside from the document requirements of January 17, Atlantis has not received any notification from the regulatory authority. Due to its application not being processed in time, the court has ordered SPA to grant Atlantis a temporary operating license.
It is noteworthy that Betsson is still not on the list of authorized companies, a spokesperson previously told iGB that it must submit the technical certification required to upgrade its temporary license to full authorization by the end of February.
