The Swedish Gambling Authority, Spelinspektionen, has released its fourth quarter and fiscal year 2024 report.

Q4

In the last quarter of this year, the Swedish gaming market's turnover reached SEK 7.6 billion, an increase of 8% over the same period last year and a 14% increase from the third quarter.

Online gaming and betting grew by 6% year-on-year to SEK 4.6 billion, while land-based betting grew by 9% year-on-year to SEK 63 million.

National lottery and gaming revenues increased by 19% to SEK 1.7 billion, while public lottery revenues grew by 5% to SEK 1.1 billion.

Casino Cosmopol continued its downward trend, falling from SEK 92 million in Q4 2023 to SEK 31 million in Q4 2024.

Fiscal Year 2024

The total turnover for 2024 was SEK 27.8 billion, a 2.5% increase from the previous year's performance.

Online gaming and betting grew by 3.5% to SEK 17.8 billion, while land-based betting saw a slight increase of 4% to SEK 2.37 billion.

National lottery and gaming revenues grew by 2% to SEK 5.7 billion, and public lottery revenues increased by 2.5% to SEK 3.7 billion.

Understandably, the biggest difference was again seen in Casino Cosmopol—turnover decreased by 66% to SEK 160 million.

Spelinspektionen also revealed that by the end of this year, about 120,600 people in the country had registered on the self-exclusion service Spelpaus.

This means that the growth rate for the last quarter of the year was 3%.

Earlier, however, the Swedish government announced a review of the country's Gambling Act, aimed at strengthening certain regulations.
