Brazil’s Secretariat of Prizes and Bets (SPA), which is overseeing the country’s newly regulated online gaming market, has held its first public hearing on the market.
The sub-division of the Ministry of Finance said over 200 participants made their voices heard in the hearing on Friday, February 21.
A total of 45 comments were raised covering areas such as responsible gaming and tackling the illegal market.
The hearing was part of an SPA consultation on improving the regulations for operators, suppliers, players and other stakeholders.
“I am very happy to see that people came, expressed themselves and brought these contributions,” said Regis Dudena, the Secretary of Prizes and Bets at the Ministry of Finance.
“I am sure that they will be complemented by the written statements that are open for consultation,” he added.
The Participa + Brazil portal remains open for contributions until March 27.
On April 4, the SPA is set to reveal its final report from the consultation, which will inform the regulatory priorities for the final three quarters of 2025 and 2026.
