The Immigration Office of Chonburi Province, Thailand, in collaboration with the Chonburi Provincial Police Investigation Department, Chonburi Immigration Checkpoint, Pattaya City Tourist Police, and Nongprue Police Station, led a team of over 30 personnel to conduct an investigation at a residence in Nongprue Town, Bang Lamung County.
It was reported that the police had previously received complaints from the public, alleging that a group of Chinese residing in the said residence were involved in illegal activities.
Upon arrival, the residence was found to be a luxurious mansion covering an area of 150 square wah, surrounded by fences, with a group of Chinese men and women working on laptops and having at least 20 mobile phones displayed.
Subsequently, the police questioned four Chinese nationals, including one female (holding a tourist visa) and four males (holding student visas), and seized three laptops and 29 mobile phones.
Further investigation revealed that the Chinese individuals were engaged in "customer service" work, responsible for receiving payments from Chinese players participating in opportunity games. The game in question was a specially created program, similar to slot machine games - online gambling, with customer service primarily communicating with players via WeChat. The daily transaction volume reached tens of thousands of yuan (approximately 100,000 Thai Baht), with customer service earning a certain percentage of the income from player transfers.
Moreover, the investigation found that the mastermind and main controllers behind the program were located in China. Since the program is suspected of involving online gambling, the police will continue to conduct further investigations.
