The head of the Human Trafficking Case Office under the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) of Thailand, Siriwit, revealed the progress of issuing an arrest warrant for the leader of the Myanmar Border Guard Force (BGF), Suchit, on charges of human trafficking. The director of DSI had signed the case summary and submitted the evidence files to the Attorney General's office on the same day.
He stated that the investigators had collected evidence of Suchit and others continuously involved in human trafficking both abroad and domestically. Specific details and the number of people involved in the crime are yet to be disclosed, but it is confirmed that Thais are involved.
As for which parts of the 2008 Anti-Human Trafficking Act and its amendments are involved in the case, a comprehensive review of the investigation files by the prosecutor is required due to the involvement of many detailed issues.
Furthermore, he indicated that the submitted evidence is sufficient to convict Suchit and others, but the case is currently under investigation by the Attorney General's office, and thus, details cannot yet be disclosed.
However, it is confirmed that all offenders will be dealt with and there will be no tolerance.
