The Pasay City Police Department welcomes a personnel change, as Colonel Pabonita officially steps down and Colonel De Sesto takes over. This adjustment has drawn public attention due to Pabonita's previously noted underperformance in combating crimes related to Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGO).
On the same day, a formal handover ceremony was held on the second floor of the Pasay City Hall. City Councilor Mark Calixto, representing Mayor Imelda Rubiano, attended to witness the event, symbolizing the official commencement of the new leadership.
The director of the Southern Police District, Brigadier General Abrugena, expressed gratitude for Pabonita's contributions and looks forward to the new chief De Sesto strengthening law enforcement, especially in addressing POGO-related crimes and improving public safety.
Upon taking office, De Sesto stated that he would strictly implement police reforms, enhance the crackdown on illegal activities, and ensure the safety and stability of Pasay City. He promised to work closely with the local government to improve law enforcement efficiency, combat criminal groups, and safeguard the safety of the citizens.
This personnel adjustment is considered part of the Philippine police's efforts to strengthen public order, and there are high expectations for the new chief to bring substantial changes.
