Chilean lawmakers are actively pushing for a regulatory bill for online gambling.
According to statistics, the annual transaction volume of the Chilean online casino market exceeds 150 million US dollars, and the global market size reaches 127 billion US dollars, with more than 900 related websites in operation.
Despite the rapid development of these casinos through sponsorships of football clubs and other means, the lack of a regulatory framework prevents the government from effective tax collection and fiscal supervision.
Legal representatives of several online gambling platforms stated that establishing a regulatory framework would directly benefit the nation and its people.
Following Brazil's green light for gambling regulation, Chile has also approved an online gambling bill, which includes a ban period for current grey market operators. The bill has been passed by the House of Representatives and now requires final approval from the Chilean Senate.
