The Thai government building has announced the latest developments on the draft of the "Comprehensive Entertainment Center Act (including legal casinos)" and the "Gambling Act".
The government stated that the "Gambling Act" draft is currently undergoing the process of listening to opinions from various departments, and after completion, it will be submitted to the cabinet meeting and the State Council for deliberation. If the State Council deems it necessary to amend the draft, it will also need to listen to public opinions.
Regarding the draft of the "Comprehensive Entertainment Center Act (including legal casinos)", the Ministry of Finance is currently organizing a public opinion collection, with the deadline set for March 14. Afterward, the draft will be submitted to the cabinet and the lower house in sequence. It is worth noting that the two drafts do not need to be submitted to the cabinet simultaneously, and it is expected that the "Comprehensive Entertainment Center Act (including legal casinos)" draft will be completed first.
On the same day, the Secretary-General of the State Council, Ba Gong, also revealed the progress of the drafts during an interview at the government building. He stated that the matter of when to submit the draft to the cabinet needs to be confirmed by the Cabinet Secretariat, and he was not clear about the specific agenda. Additionally, regarding the inclusion of this draft in the urgent legal plan that needs to be completed within 50 days, Ba Gong stated that he had completed the submission before the deadline (March 6).
However, what is concerning is that when Ba Gong was asked in the interview whether the condition that "Thai people entering the casino must have a deposit of 50 million Thai Baht" still exists, he confirmed that the condition remains, but was not clear about the specific details. He mentioned that this policy mainly depends on the decision of the Ministry of Finance, as it involves government policy and needs to consider the most appropriate policy direction.
