The bill that creates the Municipal Lottery of Juiz de Fora (MG) has been sanctioned by the city's municipality in the Zona da Mata region. The project is authored by councilor Tiago Bonecão (PSD) and stipulates that the service will be directly administered by the executive power. Both physical and virtual modalities are planned.
The objective, according to the law, is to regulate and exploit the lottery modalities allowed by federal legislation. The Treasury Department will be responsible for the coordination, supervision, and concession of the lottery, which will have the possibility of physical and virtual means for betting.
The funds collected, according to the new legislation, will be allocated to the payment of prizes and taxes, operational expenses, and the financing of public policies.
A portion of the amounts will be directed to the Municipal Social Security System (RPPS) to cover deficits until 2050. According to the text, prizes not claimed within 90 days will be reverted to the RPPS.
The exploitation of the service will be subject to specific control to prevent fraud and protect data. In addition, the law will adopt measures to prevent pathological gambling and protect minors.
