The Directorate of Casinos and Gambling Games assured that the "ATB Football" platform is not regulated.

Dominican Republic.- The Directorate of Casinos and Gambling Games (DCJA) of the Ministry of Finance of the Dominican Republic, issued a warning notice signed by its director, Claudia Álvarez Troncoso, about irregular sports betting operations through the platform "ATB Football".

According to the official statement, this operator does not have the authorization required by the Ministry, nor the Sports Betting Operation Permit required by current legislation.

In the notice, the DCJA reported that the promotion of investments supposedly backed by a hedge fund called "ATB Football Investment", registered in the state of Colorado, United States, has been detected.

In this regard, they explained that the platform offers promises of "doubling investment", "reverse investment in football", "compound interest", and "rate of return", terms that, according to the Ministry of Finance, are not typical of regulated sports betting.

The agency urges the population to always verify that the platforms they participate in have the corresponding legal permits to operate in the country. Any unauthorized service "exposes users to risks of scams and lack of legal protection", as it does not comply with the "standards of transparency and security required by Dominican regulations", they explained.

It is worth remembering that in February, the Directorate of Casinos and Gambling Games had issued a resolution to reiterate to the citizens and commercial establishments that sports betting on professional sports is subject to "strict regulation and supervision by the State, according to current regulations".

"In this sense, all sports betting activity must be carried out exclusively in sports betting banks duly registered and authorized by this Ministry, and whose platforms and establishments are enabled to operate, ensuring transparency, legal security, and comprehensive protection of consumer rights", they informed through the statement.

In this regard, they warned that any operation of sports betting carried out in unregistered establishments, clandestine platforms, or through informal intermediaries "constitutes an administrative and/or criminal offense, leaving bettors exposed not only to economic sanctions and the nullity of the bets made, but also to risks associated with the lack of protection of their rights such as claims, frauds, or breaches".
