Sports betting revenues in Kansas, US, rose 48.2 per cent month-on-month in February.
The state’s regulator, the Kansas Lottery, said revenue across retail and online rose from US$16.2m in January to $23.9m.
Year-on-year, revenues were up a massive 683.7 per cent from $3.1m in February 2024, which was affected by winning bets on the Kansas City Chiefs’ successful back-to-back NFL Super Bowl triumph.
The Chiefs also made it to the 2025 Super Bowl, but their loss this time round to the Philadelphia Eagles seemingly helped revenue in the Sunflower State recover.
Sports betting handle across land-based and online sportsbook operators rose 6.5 per cent year-on-year from $203m to $216.2m.
But total bets fell 28.4 per cent from January’s $301.8m.
With a 10 per cent sports betting tax burden on Kansas’ operators, taxes rose by 683.7 per cent year-on-year to $2.4m and by 48.2 per cent to $1.6m from January.
