Australia.- Gaming revenue from pubs and clubs in Queensland in February was up 4.7 per cent in year-on-year terms but down 8.2 per cent sequentially. According to figures from Wohlsen Consulting reported by Asia Gaming Brief, club revenue increased by 9.2 per cent year-on-year to AU$116.55m (US$73.27m) while hotels took AU$149.32m (US$93.88m), a rise of 8.4 per cent.

Compared to January, hotel revenue was down by 6.5 per cent and club revenue was down by 10.2 per cent, mainly due to fewer trading days in February. Hotels still lead the market with a 56 per cent share, 1 percentage point higher than the previous month.

The government of Queensland has initiated a review of its racing industry with a discussion paper that invites feedback from all stakeholders. The review is expected to focus on integrity and to recommend updates to infrastructure to meet modern standards. It also aims to promote collaboration among stakeholders to ensure each racing code can thrive while maintaining high standards of animal welfare.
