Recently, according to Thai media reports, the Myanmar Border Guard Force (BGF) held a press conference marking one month of their operation to clean up telecom fraud (from February 12 to date), hosted by Colonel Nai Mong So, director of the BGF Human Trafficking Victims Coordination Center.
Colonel Nai Mong So revealed that currently, over 2,700 telecom fraud suspects have been repatriated, with about 7,000 still remaining. The BGF also has to bear the cost of 25,000 Myanmar kyat per person per day for meals. The operation to clean up telecom fraud is expected to continue, possibly on a monthly basis, until it is completely eradicated.
However, the relevant countries have not yet contacted to repatriate their nationals, although the BGF is ready to arrange deportations at any time.
The BGF has ordered all Chinese capital groups within its jurisdiction to cease all telecom fraud-related business activities immediately, with further penalties to be imposed if any are discovered. The "Asia-Pacific" company will continue to operate in the form of regional development and investment, and it is confirmed that Colonel Su Chi, the BGF leader, is only the landowner who leased the land to the Chinese gangs and is not involved in any telecom fraud or human trafficking activities.
He further stated that after the operation to clean up the telecom fraud groups, the BGF has achieved significant success, with telecom fraud disappearing by 90% within its jurisdiction and it is unlikely to occur again.
Because the areas where they went to rescue victims have been completely sealed off, with no access, especially for the Chinese gangs who are now unable to operate. A special task force has been established to continue the crackdown, and any discovered will be immediately arrested. The Chinese gangs are completely unable to operate, including six Chinese telecom fraud suspects who have been captured and are prepared to be handed over to China.
