The 2024 report on Spain's national online gambling market shows that the total gambling revenue (GGR) increased by 17.61%, reaching 1.45 billion euros (1.58 billion USD). Deposits and withdrawals also grew by 19.62% and 19.73% respectively, indicating a continuous rise in consumer participation.
Marketing expenditures in 2024 totaled 526.3 million euros, up 30.36% from 2023. The spending was distributed among affiliates (56.32 million euros), advertising, sponsorships, and promotions, with advertising growing by 37.17% and promotions by 30.84%.
The number of active players reached 1,992,889, a 21.71% increase from the previous year. The gambling segment grew by 23.80%, and the casino segment by 16.96%, with significant contributions from slot machines.
It's worth noting: Marketing expenditures are divided into four main categories, with promotions and advertising seeing the largest increases.
Bingo games grew by 3.96%, while the GGR for poker games declined, mainly due to a decrease in tournament poker participation. The growth rate for poker games fell by 4.99%, primarily because tournament poker games decreased by 3.48%, accounting for 73.58% of the market, and cash poker games also declined by 8.97%, making up 26.42% of the market.
The growth in active players and betting expenditures reflects an increase in online gaming activities, while the decline in poker games highlights the challenges faced in this area.
