The Danish gambling regulator Spillemyndigheden has announced the gambling revenue results for February 2025.
Overall, the gross gambling revenue was 175 million Danish kroner ($25.4 million), a decrease of 3 million Danish kroner from the same period last year. In fact, the figures for each sector have declined year-on-year, with slot machine GGR dropping by 7 million Danish kroner to 93 million Danish kroner, and land-based gaming GGR falling by 5 million Danish kroner to 27 million Danish kroner. Only the online segment saw growth, increasing by 5.8%, or 16 million Danish kroner, reaching 294 million Danish kroner.
Overall, due to the growth in online business, gambling expenditure increased by 0.6% year-on-year, totaling 590 million Danish kroner.
Compared to the previous month, all figures have declined, with betting amounts down by 9.8%, slot machines by 3.1%, physical casinos by 3.6%, and online casinos by 7%.
More specifically, this year's sports betting accounted for 68.8%, computer gaming for 17.6%, and physical gaming for 13.7%. This is relatively consistent with the breakdown in February of last year, when mobile gaming accounted for 69.7%, computer gaming for 14.2%, and physical gaming for 16.1%. Over these two years, Saturdays and Sundays unsurprisingly became the days when Danes bet the most.
Good news: earlier this year, Yggdrasil obtained a B2B gaming license from Spillemyndigheden.
In the online casino gaming segment, slots accounted for 81.9%, blackjack for 6.6%, roulette for 5.5%, poker for 2.7%, bingo games for 2.6%, and other games for the remaining 0.8%. In this segment, Friday has become the most popular betting day; this behavior has changed compared to 2024, when Thursday was significantly the most popular betting day.
For gaming machines, arcades accounted for the majority of gambling revenue, at 80.2%. Restaurants accounted for the remaining 19.8%, with an average daily total gambling revenue of 3.5 million Danish kroner. In Denmark, the most popular time to bet on gaming machines is from 3 PM to 5 PM local time, and Friday is again the highest revenue day of the week.
In February 2025, 58,280 people registered with ROFUS (Spillemyndigheden's self-exclusion registry). Of these, 37,772 people (64.8%) have permanently registered. The majority of registrants are male, totaling 45,518 people (78.1%).
