Sports betting during March Madness is expected to top $3 billion nationwide the year – and Louisiana continues to see major growth in mobile gaming.
Online sports betting in Louisiana is one of the fastest-growing segments of gaming in the state. According to state records, more than $355 million in mobile sports bets were placed in Louisiana in February 2024 alone — a 40% increase from the same month last year. Since sports betting was legalized in 2021, the state has collected over $147 million in tax revenue.
“It seems to be working really well. A lot of the money that has been dedicated to early childhood development has exceeded our expectations,” said Louisiana State Senator Kirk Talbot, R-River Ridge.
