The Swedish Gambling Authority, Spelinspektionen, has imposed administrative fines on two companies for failing to conduct gambling responsibly.

Glitnor Services

Glitnor Services was warned and fined SEK 28 million (USD 2.79 million) for violating the duty of care section of the Gambling Act.

Out of twelve audited customers, ten did not receive assistance from the company when they began to show signs of gambling addiction.

Three of these individuals were aged between 18 to 24 years, a group considered particularly vulnerable.

Customer five gambled every hour for 23 consecutive days; customer four placed 3,200 bets within five and a half hours; customer six lost 24% of their annual income in three days.

Although Glitnor had contacted these customers, it did not effectively alter their gaming behavior, leading the authority to deem these attempts unsuccessful and noting that the company should take stricter measures.

Subsequently, Glitnor has made extensive changes to improve customer service, including new follow-up procedures.

Glitnor Services operates the gaming website luckycasino.com.

Roar Vegas

Roar Vegas was fined SEK 8 million for failing to fulfill its duty of care.

In a similar audit, Roar Vegas was found to have not provided adequate support for three of the twelve customers checked by Spelinspektionen.

Customer six typically logged in for 6 to 12 hours a day; customer nine once logged in for 16 hours; and these customers, along with customer eight, followed a gambling pattern of losing most of their deposited money immediately.

Roar Vegas did implement deposit limits for these customers, but Spelinspektionen believes that effective measures should have been taken more promptly.

Roar Vegas holds a commercial online gaming and gambling license and operates the website leovegas.com.

It is noteworthy that some customers of both operators, who are potentially at risk of gambling harm, access their accounts at night, play casino games, or are aged between 18 to 24 years, all of which are indicators of high-risk gambling behavior.

The neighboring gambling authority KSA recently published a list of indicators of dangerous gambling behavior, which has been adopted by other companies in the industry.
