New Hampshire lawmakers looking for revenue are betting on video slot machines to help fill some shortfalls.
State lawmakers are moving forward with a plan to legalize video slot machines in New Hampshire. Historical horse racing machines that mimic slots are currently allowed as part of the state’s charitable gaming program.
Supporters said the change would boost revenue to an estimated $65 million per year.
“They have a faster game time, and they’re allowed to make more revenue on the daily basis,” said state Rep. Joe Sweeney, R-Salem. “So, legalizing video lottery terminals means more money for the charities, it means more money for the state’s education trust fund, and it allows us to fund other general fund obligations.”
