The National Management Committee of Myanmar stated that as of now, the national earthquake death toll is 1,002 people, with 2,376 injured and 30 missing.

According to a report by Myanmar Radio and Television on Saturday (March 29), Myanmar's leader Min Aung Hlaing and his delegation arrived by helicopter in the morning to inspect the severely affected earthquake area in Mandalay Province.

The report mentioned that the Chief Minister of Mandalay Province, Myo Aung, the commander of the Central Military District, and other responsible officials reported the disaster situation in Mandalay Province to Min Aung Hlaing, who requested that rescue operations be carried out swiftly.

The Myanmar military stated in a declaration: "Roads, bridges, and buildings and other infrastructure have been damaged, causing civilian casualties. Search and rescue operations are currently underway in the affected areas." The death toll announced this time has significantly increased from the previously reported 144 people.

According to statistics previously released by the Myanmar officials, the earthquake caused 694 deaths, 1,670 injuries, and 68 missing locally. Data collection on the disaster is still ongoing.

In Bangkok, rescue workers worked overnight on Friday to search for workers trapped after a 30-story skyscraper under construction collapsed. The building instantly turned into rubble and twisted metal during the severe shaking.

The Mayor of Bangkok, Chadchart Sittipunt, stated that nearly 10 people have been confirmed dead in the city, most of them in the skyscraper collapse incident. However, about 100 construction workers are still unaccounted for at the site, which is near the popular Chatuchak weekend market for tourists.

"We are doing everything we can to carry out the rescue because every life is crucial," Chadchart told reporters at the scene, "Our top priority is to save people as quickly as possible."

The Bangkok municipal authorities stated that after receiving over 2,000 damage reports, they will dispatch more than 100 engineers to conduct safety inspections of buildings throughout the city.
