Kalshi Lawyer to Join DOGE, Report Says

Eliezer Mishory, a lawyer at event-based trading platform firm Kalshi, is supposedly taking a position at the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) at the US Securities and Exchange Commission.

Kalshi Lawyer to Join Musk’s DOGE, Rumors Say

According to recent reports, Mishory, the chief regulatory officer and general counsel at Kalshi, is set to join controversial billionaire Elon Musk-led DOGE.

Mishory supposedly gained entry to the agency’s Washington headquarters on Friday. This occurred when the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) initially notified employees that it was hiring DOGE staff and granting them access to agency systems with certain conditions.

Sources say that while Mishory hasn’t yet been officially appointed as DOGE’s Representative at the SEC, conversations have so far been constructive. The timing of these reports and the idea of Mishory gaining a position within the department seem to be supported by the current staff shifts in the Commission. The SEC is currently experiencing a staff exodus in the hundreds, set to conclude by the end of this week.

Some employees have raised concerns about the agency’s reduced ability to carry out its core responsibilities of overseeing and regulating US capital markets. On Wednesday, the SEC unveiled a reorganization plan in response to an order from Trump directing agencies to streamline their operations.

In addition, Mishory’s exit from Kalshi comes at a difficult time for the prediction markets and sports wagering firm. Kalshi is currently under investigation by the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection as concerns are growing that sports event contracts resemble traditional sports betting.

Who is Eliezer Mishory?

While not a household name, Mishory still boasts an impressive portfolio, which is likely why he came to the attention of DOGE. Since 2021, he’s been working for Kalshi, playing a key role in navigating the complex regulatory landscape of prediction markets, a relatively new and frequently debated field within finance.

Before joining the company, Mishory served as special counsel to Brian Quintenz, a former commissioner at the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), an agency that plays a vital role in regulating derivatives markets, including certain aspects of cryptocurrencies, as well as ediction market operators such as Kalshi.

This role provided Mishory with valuable insights into the operations of a major regulatory body. In addition, Eliezer Mishory’s portfolio also includes experience at the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).

At the time of writing this article, SEC has not commented on the matter. Neither Mishory nor representatives from the White House and Kalshi have commented publicly on the matter.
