Under the leadership of the First Police Station in Thailand, staff and others, armed with an arrest warrant issued by the Criminal Court of Thonburi Province, conducted a search in a room on the third floor of a large apartment in Bangkok's Wang Thonglang District. They seized 3 Sim boxes each capable of holding 32 SIM cards, 1 internet signal router, 1 surveillance device, 4 three-pin plugs, and 1 uninterruptible power supply.
It is reported that the First Police Station had previously received a report from a victim who claimed that fraudsters, posing as employees of the electricity bureau, contacted them to add LINE to handle document matters. They sent a link with processing steps and claimed they would refund the electricity fees. However, the victim was unable to contact them afterwards, realizing they had been scammed with a loss of 17,777 Thai Baht, and immediately went to the police station to report the incident.
Subsequently, police data investigation revealed that this case was linked to eight other cases, causing total losses exceeding 300,000 Thai Baht. The signals originated from the aforementioned apartment room, prompting personnel to investigate the scene. The investigation found that the room's renter was a Thai named Piwa (transliteration), who was employed by a Taiwanese man named Liu (transliteration) to rent the room, but the police did not find the room renter and the Taiwanese employer.
Furthermore, it is understood that the seized items have been handed over to the Tha Kham Police Station in Bangkok for disposal, and further tracking and arrest of related offenders will continue.
