Since the stunning news in February that it had lost operational control of Inspire, the nearly $1.7 billion integrated resort it opened last year in South Korea, Mohegan has had little or nothing to say about it publicly.
A topic it might prefer to discuss in the weeks and months ahead is its bid for a New York City casino license.
The juxtaposition of the two developments illustrates how dynamic the casino business can be.
Ray Pineault, Mohegan’s president and chief executive officer, has been unavailable for an interview in the wake of the Inspire news, first hinted at in the New Year’s Eve release of Mohegan’s 2024 annual report.
