The Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) has taken action against 13 illegal offshore gambling websites that involve Michigan residents and do not hold a valid state gambling license. These websites include Captain Jack Casino, Casino Brango, and Ducky Luck Casino, whose operations violate Michigan's gambling regulations.
The operators of these websites are located in jurisdictions such as Curacao, Costa Rica, and Anjouan. These sites allow Michigan players to gamble using various payment methods, including credit cards, PayPal, and cryptocurrencies. The MGCB has found that these sites engage in regulatory violations such as withholding winnings and setting high betting requirements, leading to financial losses for players.
In addition to financial risks, these offshore operators also fail to adhere to Michigan's responsible gambling, consumer protection, or data security standards, exposing users to risks of fraud and identity theft. The MGCB has issued a cease and desist order to these operators, giving them 14 days to comply. If they fail to comply, the MGCB will collaborate with the Michigan Attorney General's Office to take legal action.
Reminder: The MGCB advises Michigan residents to only participate in gambling websites licensed by the state, and a list of these websites is available on the MGCB website.
Henry Williams, the Executive Director of the Michigan Gaming Control Board, stated: "These illegal gambling websites pose significant personal and financial risks to Michigan residents.
Our primary mission is to maintain a safe and regulated gambling environment. These sites not only violate Michigan law but also engage in fraudulent practices that jeopardize consumer safety, including withholding winnings and imposing unfair betting requirements.
Previously, the Metropolitan Manila Gaming Commission ordered 10 offshore gambling operators to cease operations in March and has recently taken measures to combat casino-style gaming machines statewide.
