In response to recent rumors about the connection between Filipino-Chinese businessman Anson Tan and offshore gaming operators (POGO), the Guo family issued a statement on Saturday, firmly denying any association and emphasizing that Tan had no involvement with the industry during his lifetime.

Anson Tan and his driver, who disappeared two weeks ago, were found dead in Rodriguez, Rizal Province, drawing widespread social attention. The case is considered complex and may involve more hidden forces.

Jose Christopher “Kit” Belmonte, the legal representative of the Guo family, clarified in the statement: "Mr. Tan's family categorically denies any involvement with any Philippine offshore gaming activities and has never owned any property in Bulacan Province for rental purposes."

The statement also calls on the public to view online and media misinformation rationally and expresses gratitude for the concern from all walks of life. Although the family hopes to have their privacy rights respected during the mourning period, they also promise to fully support the ongoing investigation by the Philippine National Police into the case.

Anson Tan's legal name is Anson Tan, but he is widely known as Anson Que in business and social circles.

Belmonte further pointed out: "Mr. Tan has been legally operating businesses in the Philippines for a long time, is an important figure in the Chinese business community, and actively participates in charitable activities. He has always adhered to integrity, only dealing with personally known and trustworthy partners, and has never been involved in any illegal affairs."

Previously, Philippine Justice Minister Jesus Crispin Remulla had indicated in discussions with the police and the National Bureau of Investigation that Anson Tan might have had some financial disputes with POGO operators. According to reports, some operators had asked him for a "refund," which was listed as one of the potential criminal motives.

Remulla emphasized that the investigation is still in its early stages, and all motives and involved persons are being considered. "We are thoroughly analyzing various clues. Although some details cannot be disclosed yet, this is not due to administrative secrecy but for the confidentiality and security of the investigation."
